The debut route for LD Lines out of the UK, having taken over the route from P&O Ferries within a few days of their closure. Initally served by the mv Norman Spirit solo, the ship entered service with builders still onboard. Whilst P&O Ferries had three departures per day, LD Lines opted for one sailing each day from each port.

In 2008 LD Lines expanded the route with a second ship the mv Norman Voyager which has increased the sailings to two departures per day.
